Oyo State Lawmaker Olatoye Temitope aka Hon. Sugar shot dead by unknown gunmen || @YakubDogara

Serving House of Representatives member in Ibadan Oyo State, representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Hon. Temitope Olatoye was reported to have been shot dead by unknown gunmen. Olatoye-Temitope-Sugar Olatoye, popularly known as ‘Sugar’ learned from a reliable source was shot in the eye at Iyana-Agbala area of Ibadan on Saturday by unknown gunmen believed to be sent by his political rival known as Hon. Adigun Ahmed was popularly known as “Murphy.”

Ajimobi loses all four announced LGAs in Oyo south It was revealed that before the incident, trouble had earlier ensued between the groups loyal to the duo, which finally led to the onslaught of the serving reps member. Confirming the incident, his younger brother, Oladotun disclosed that Sugar was truly shot and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. 

But, an investigation later revealed that he was rushed to the University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan and died a few hours later following injuries he sustained from the gunshot. His death report was confirmed by the Public Relations Unit of the UCH, Ibadan. 

Ajimobi loses the senatorial seat to PDP It would be recalled that Olatoye Temitope contested for Oyo South Senatorial district on the platform of Action Democratic Party (ADP) but lost at the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 23.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has commiserated with the family of slain Oyo lawmaker, Olatoye Temitope, who was shot at a polling unit during Saturday’s elections in the state.

Mr. Olatoye, the lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency of the state, died following gunshot injuries he received.

The deceased was shot in the eye by political thugs at a collation center in Elesu, Lagelu Local Government Area and later confirmed dead by the University Teaching Hospital in Ibadan.

In a message on his Twitter handle @YakubDogara on Saturday night, Mr. Dogora described the killing as shocking, primitive and wicked act.

I received with shock, the sad and distressing news of the assassination of my brother and colleague, Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar, in Oyo State today. The murder of Hon Sugar in election violence today is primitive, wicked, inhumane, barbaric and highly condemnable,"  Mr. Dogora said.
