News: Duane Eddy, the pioneering figure in rock and roll, has passed away at the age of 86, strumming his last chord.


Duane Eddy, the Grammy-winning guitarist renowned for his distinctive style and hits like "Rebel-‘Rouser" and "Peter Gunn," passed away at the age of 86. 
 
His wife, Deed Abbate, confirmed that he died of cancer in Franklin, Tenn., on April 30. Eddy, survived by his wife and four children, left a significant mark on the music world with his iconic "Twang" sound, inspiring generations of guitarists. 
 
Born on April 26, 1938, in Corning, N.Y., Eddy began playing guitar as a child and rose to prominence as one of the few instrumentalists to achieve national fame. 
 
He achieved numerous Billboard Hot 100 hits and Grammy awards throughout his career, including for his work on "Peter Gunn" and collaborations with other artists like Doc Watson. 
 
Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, Eddy's legacy as a pioneer in rock and roll guitar will be remembered fondly by music enthusiasts worldwide.
