Entertainment: Spanish rapper Morad has been jailed for six months for traffic violations.

The Catalan rapper Morad was sentenced to six months in prison on Monday, April 9, for driving recklessly in 2022. Numerous Spanish news sources claim that the musician, well known for hits like "Se Grita" (2023), "Sigue" (2022), and "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 47" (2021), willingly checked himself into the Brians 2 prison facility outside of Barcelona.

According to the Spanish press, Morad's punishment stems from his frequent failure to appear in court when summoned for moving infractions and driving without a license.

The 25-year-old artist, whose real name is Morad El Khattouti El Horami, has previously gone afoul of the law; he now has a case ongoing in which he is charged with aggravated assault and inciting public disorder.

The prosecutor's office asked for a six-year prison sentence for Morad in this ongoing case. The accusations were based on an event that occurred in July 2021, during the epidemic, when Morad reportedly used a Taser to attack and threaten a number of Catalan police officers (Mossos d'Esquadra) for breaking a lockdown during the night in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, which is close to Barcelona.

Morad and his attorneys worked out a two-year sentence in February for these offenses. Morad agreed to pay the Mosso d'Esquadra agent 10,000 euros (more than $10,850) as part of the deal. Morad was given a shorter term in exchange for not appealing the verdict and paying the 2,400 euros (about $2,600) in damages he caused to six police cars in the incident in 2021.

As per the deal, if Morad commits any infractions within the next two years, he will be subject to extra sanctions.
